These are great for cyclists and friends of cyclists, show your support by putting one on your car or shop window. That lets cyclists know that they are welcome at your house or business should they need help.

I know I have been in that situation. A few years ago I crashed pretty badly when I hit some gravel in a corner on a rural road. When I got up off the ground blood was dripping from my face and I couldn’t see out of my left eye, I thought I had lost an eye! I went to one of the few houses nearby. There was a car outside but no one answered the door. Who can blame them. I didn’t know how badly I was hurt but decided to ride home but monitor how I was feeling and call an ambulance if things got really bad. I ended up riding 30 miles home, you should have seen the looks I got! Blood was streaming down my face, dripping on to my jersey, and my knees were bleeding and covered in blood splatter from my face. When I got home my wife sent me directly to the Urgent Care, who wanted to put me in an ambulance and send me the ER! I told them I had ridden 30 miles like that just fine, I would be fine driving over there. At the ER they checked me out and stitched my face up.

It turned out okay but it might not have. Although I didn’t panic it would have been very easy to, as I had no idea how badly I was hurt, I had obviously taken a bad blow to the head, and I was bleeding profusely. I was a bit worried I would pass out at any minute. The shocked looks I got from people passing in cars didn’t help. How how nice it would have been to have seen a bicycle friendly sticker on house or shop window, and felt confident I could go in and seek help, even if to just clean up and see my injuries in a mirror so I could decide what to do.
